Art Club/Auction

Beginning in 2002 one of the KYI founders, Bobbie McCreary, worked with Revilla High School students and members of the community to create bright and colorful art exhibits to brighten the bleak look of downtown Ketchikan in the winter months.  In 2008 the murals that had installed on the Bernard Passman building were auctioned off to new owners as the building owners downtown have been encouraged to remove their wooden boards.  KYI is supporting young artists and helping them start an Art Club. The first Youth Art Auction was held in June 2009 and the most recent project is "Alley Art" providing a "legitimate" wall for young artists to display their talents.  Artists are encouraged to call 617-5990 to ask for supplies.  The current theme is "What is in Our Future."  The alley runs between Ketchi-Kandies and Tongass
