
KYI is governed by a diverse board of youth, young adults and adults, with a minimum of four members under 18 years of age and 7 members 18 and above. Up to 15 may serve on the governing board. In addition to the Governing Board who meets quarterly unless actions require interim meetings, an Executive Committee of the officers and any other Board member who chooses to attend meeting monthly, or as needed. The Hot Shots paintball league runs an ancillary organization under the oversight of KYI.

The KYI endeavors are supported by many local businesses and individuals. At the time of formation, Cellular One and the Revilla Island Prevention Coalition made generous cash donations for the purchase of paintball equipment and field materials and nearly $35,000 of in-kind services and products were donated to develop the field. Since that time, donations have been provided by Wal Mart, Tyler Rentals, Skinner Sales and Services, GCI and many other businesses and individuals.
